We now have a look at his salary and contract specifics
Salary – McGuire’s earlier deal with the Texas Tech was $20.2 million for six years, which boiled down to around $3 million per year. However, his new contract with the same club that comes a year later, again for a duration of six years, proposes a deal of $26.6 million.

Contract details – The new contract, effective since December 28, proposes an overall deal worth $26.6 million. However, it comes with an important caveat that each year his salary would increase by a fixed amount – $100,000. That means that at the end of six years, his salary would have increased by $0.6 million, thus making it $4.6 million for the sixth year.
Record – McGuire acquired a positive record as a coach in his very first year at the Texas Tech, managing a 7-5 record that included wins over Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. The Red Raiders finished the season as fourth in the Big 12. McGuire’s son Garret is also a former professional American footballer, having played at Baylor before becoming a coaching assistant for the Carolina Panthers.
