The Kansas City Chiefs faced the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season. While the game was of particular attraction to many since the trade of Christian McCaffery to the 49ers earlier this week, the Chiefs’ lineup caught the fans unprepared as well.

The visitors started rookie running back Isiah Pacheco against the San Francisco 49ers ahead of veteran Clyde Edwards-Helaire. While the decision came as a surprise to many, Clyde Edwards-Helaire later also came on and was deployed in a backup role.

Isiah Pacheco was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft. Since then, he has made six appearances for the team, making his NFL debut against the Arizona Cardinals in a 44-21 win in Week 2.

The 23-year-old running back played college football at Rutgers and registered 563 carries for 2,442 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 47 receptions for 249 yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 610 plays from scrimmage for 2,691 yards, and 19 touchdowns from scrimmage.

Since making his NFL debut against the Arizona Cardinals, Pacheco has registered 31 carries for 149 yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 2 receptions out of 2 targets for 9 yards and 2 fumbles. At the time of writing this article, the running back has registered 1 carry for 2 yards.

Meanwhile, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, whom Pacheco replaced as the starter against the San Francisco 49ers, made 2 carries for 6 yards at the time of writing this article, as the Kansas City Chiefs lead 14-13 in the second quarter with 2:00 left of the clock.

The Kansas City Chiefs are currently at the top of the AFC West standings in the AFC after winning four games and losing twice so far this season. However, they face stark competition from the Los Angeles Chargers in the second spot, who also have won twice and lost two games this season.
