A pitch invader entered the pitch during Argentina vs Netherlands FIFA World Cup 2022 quarter-final match at Lusail Stadium on Friday. He was hounded out of the pitch by the stadium security. The invader had the message ‘Vitaly The Goat’ painted on his chest. Vitaly the goat is a professional boxer.

Many fans are suggesting that the invader was Vitaly The Goat himself, however, there is no information available to indicate that. 

It is also not clear if the pitch invader had any particular agenda or if he came in with a flag like in the previous instances in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar

The treatment of the invader by the stadium security drew a lot of criticism as the person was tightly pinned down to the ground by multiple stadium security officials. 

Argentina went ahead in the match after a goal by Nahuel Molina in the 35th minute, which came from a brilliant assist by Lionel Messi. The second goal for Argentina came in the second half in the 73rd minute when Lionel Messi scored from a penalty.

The Netherlands came back in the game in the 83rd minute with an equaliser from Wout Weghorst which brought back Dutch hopes alive. The final few minutes of the match built up into a thrilling contest with the Dutch equalising from a free kick in the very last minute of injury time. 

The match will now go into extra time with both team having an equal chance to win it.
