Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul was all praises for fast bowler Mohsin Khan who made an impact by picking up four crucial wickets against Delhi Capitals in the 45th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The 23-year-old’s victims included David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rowman Powell, and Shardul Thakur. He was also awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance.

“He (Mohsin Khan) has been brilliant, played him in the nets first time a month ago … didn’t want to face him, seriously. He was sharp, he’s scary at times in the nets. It’s not just the pace, he has a good brain, has a bit of skill as well, has a great slower one and he knows when to use them,” KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“Eager to learn, eager to play, obviously he’s been around with the teams for the last 2-3 years, he hasn’t got a chance, he was very eager to play and he’s been a confident guy. Even under pressure, he’s bowled some really big overs for us and he’s performed for us. Hopefully he can learn, get better, get confident and keep doing the job for us.”

Mohsin Khan was first picked up by Mumbai Indians in 2018 and was reacquired two years later at his base price of Rs 20 Lakh. However, he never played a match for the side. In the 2022 mega auctions, LSG got him for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

LSG beat DC by six runs on Sunday. With this, the team has14 points from 10 games, and another win out of the remaining four games would seal a play-off spot for them considering 16 being the magic number in most years.

“Really not thinking about that (playoffs), we’ve played some good cricket. Happy with the way we are doing the right things, just gives us confidence and we need to come out every game and give it our 100%, that’s what we are trying to do,” KL Rahul said.
