Richard Sherman took a jibe at Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos after their loss against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday. The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback, who is a part of Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football coverage, slammed the Denver offense for a poor show.
Sherman said ‘run the damn ball’ four times in 20 seconds. “You need one yard… RUN THE BALL,” the former cornerback added.

Indianapolis won 12-9 in overtime. The Broncos had fourth-and-1 at the Colts’ 5-yard line down. It was Russell Wilson and co’s fourth trip into the red zone. They decided to go for the win.
Wilson’s pass, for the win, fell incomplete. Colts cornerback Stephon Gilmore intercepted it and Denver lost the game.
Now, Sherman, who played alongside Russell Wilson at the Seattle Seahawks, had lost a Super Bowl against the New England Patriots when the team made a similar decision in Super Bowl XLIX. The quarterback attempted to pass at the opponent’s 1-yard line rather than run it.
“Necessary criticism,” Sherman said, justifying his rant on Wilson’s poor show.
“On the final play, you gotta run the ball. Again. I wish I had Marshawn up here. Like, 1 yard. You need 1 yard. Run the ball. Run the ball! [Charissa Thompson], all he has to do is run the football. Necessary criticism. I’ve said enough criticism for him, but got dang it, run the dang ball! Like, learn from your mistakes,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Sherman was trolled on social media for first having a jovial talk with Russell Wilson and then criticising him, but behind his back.

“That’s the definition of a big-time player making big plays in the moment,” Colts coach Frank Reich said about Gilmore. “Isn’t it awesome you can have a game like that and still win?”
Wilson was sacked four times and picked off twice. His four TD throws through five games marks the worst start of his 11-year career and he hasn’t looked anything like the Broncos expected after giving him a $245 million contract extension before his first snap for Denver.
