Brock Purdy, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, made two fake pumps and then connected with George Kittle for the team’s first touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday at the Lumen Field. 

Purdy, Mr Irrelevant, pumped once and then again only to find a wide open George Kittle over the middle. The tight end ran to the end zone to open the scoring.

San Francisco led Seattle 7-0 after the first quarter.

Brock Purdy had successfully connected all his nine passes for 73 yards and one touchdown in the first quarter. Fans were impressed with the quarterback, who was the last pick of the NFL 2022 draft. 

“I already like the confidence Purdy is moving and throwing with,” a Twitter user said.

“Brock Purdy is the next Tom Brady. Mark my words,” another one added. 

“It would be no big surprise if SF tries to trade Trey Lance, let Jimmy hit free agency and add a journeyman to back-up for Purdy next season. Lance ain’t it…” a third one tweeted.

Purdy made his second career start on Thursday. Last week, the rookie led San Francisco to a win against Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He suffered an injury early in last Sunday and played through the discomfort. He was limited in the brief practice time the 49ers had this week.

San Francisco had already ruled out WR Deebo Samuel, CB Samuel Womack III, DB Tavarius Moore and DL Kevin Givens.

Seattle were without starting defensive lineman Al Woods because of an Achilles injury suffered last Sunday against Carolina. Backup running back DeeJay Dallas is missing his second straight game because of an ankle sprain, but rookie RB Kenneth Walker III is back after missing the loss to the Panthers with an ankle injury.
