“Dear Delhi, I speak to you today as a fellow fan of the team we love”, said Iyer at the start of his message. “We fight the same fight, we always do. We know it won’t be easy, but we know what it takes to raise the Cup.

“We have worked hard, harder than before. We have put in the yards harder than before and the best part (is) we go beyond than just a team. Make no mistake about it”, continued the 26-year-old.

“Make no mistake about it, every game you will have me in your corner. Your biggest supporter with the loudest cheer. Come on Delhi. Love always, Shreyas”

Iyer got injured during the India-England series that was concluded last month in its first One-day International (ODI). He suffered a subluxation on his left shoulder on March 23 while fielding.

DC under Iyer’s captaincy finished as runners-up last season in IPL. Their fairytale campaign came to an end after Mumbai Indians clinched victory in the final and won the title for the fifth time.
