Debutants Namibia will look to extend their impressive run in the ongoing T20 World Cup so far with a win against Scotland in their opening Super 12 match in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Namibia were thumped by Sri Lanka in their opening fixture in the preliminary round but made a stunning comeback, beating the Netherlands and Ireland in their next two games to book their place among the big boys.

Skipper Gerhard Erasmus and David Wiese have been their top performers with the willow as they chased down targets of 164 and 125 to book Namibia’s place in the Super 12.

It was a momentous occassion when they completed an eight-wicket victory over Ireland to finish second in Group A, given the relative obscurity of the nation of 2.5 million in the cricketing world.

They will come up against a Scottish side that came crashing down to Earth with a 120-run defeat against Afghanistan ending snapping run of three consecutive wins.

Kyle Coetzer’s men were skittled out for a paltry 60 in 10.2 overs while chasing a challenging 190 and they will need to quickly recover from the defeat to avoid any such hiccups against a team, who are brimming with confidence and have nothing to loss.

Their batting trio of Richie Berrington, George Munsey and Matthew Cross have produced the goods in the qualifying matches but their batting line-up looked clueless against Afghanistan spinners and they will hope to give a better account of themselves on Wednesday.
