New Zealand
captain Kane Williamson on Tuesday said that the team has “moved on” from the
heartbreaking loss against England in the 2019 ODI World Cup final, saying the side
is only looking forward to the challenges ahead.

The
Blackcaps are set to face England in the first semi-final of the ongoing T20
World Cup
on Wednesday. While recalling the “amazing” final at Lord’s, Williamson
expressed relief that the boundary countback rule, on the basis of which England
were declared winners, has been scrapped.

Speaking at
a virtual press conference, Williamson said, “”I mean it was an amazing
game of cricket and obviously and in the latest stages it was highly
competitive. Few things didn’t quite go our way and that’s how it was.”

Naturally
there were some rules and the game fell another way and decided the results. In
terms of what we wanted to do that was there and that’s how we like to measure
ourselves.”

“Everybody
has got a different opinion on it and ties and boundaries count are some of the
dramatic things that decided some matches but not so anymore,” the 31-year-old
said.

The final saw
the first-ever super over in an ODI World Cup after the two sides finished with
level scores from 50 over each. The two teams could not be separated after two
Super Overs, with England declared winners on the basis of hitting more
boundaries than the Kiwis.

ICC has
since scrapped that rule, and knockout matches will be decided on Super Overs
until a clear winner emerges.

Meanwhile,
England will be looking to reach their third T20 World Cup final with a win
against the Kiwis, who will aim to reach the final for the first time in the
showpiece event. England have been one of the two in-form sides in the
tournament, but lost their final group game against South Africa on Sunday.
