Rookies are a big part of any sports team. These are selected to provide a fresh boost of energy for the team. They are drafted on the basis of the need of the team. The players who had a tremendous college season are likely to be higher up the draft order and are chosen by the team that had a bad record the previous season. So, the rookies generally do not have the option to select a team.

There have been rookies who have ascended to be the franchise players for their team. Recently, Joe Burrow was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the first overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Because the Bengals were struggling to find a legitimate quarterback, this pick handed them an opportunity to compete for the Super Bowl in the coming years.
