Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli became the first Indian to score 10,000 T20 runs. He achieved the feat with a six off Jasprit Bumrah as the Mumbai Indians asked RCB to bat first on Sunday in Dubai.

Coming into the game, Kohli was just 13 runs short of the figure. Playing Bumrah, who has dismissed him four times, Kohli top-edged first ball of the fourth over find a one-bounce boundary over the keeper. The bowler banged the next delivery short and the RCB skipper pulled it behind square on the leg-side to take a 69-metre maximum. After losing Devdutt Paddikal early, Kohli and Srikar Bharat finished the powerplay at 48/1.

Kohli is the fifth player to score 10,000 runs in the shortest format. West Indies’ Chris Gayle with 14,261 runs in 446 matches at a strike rate of 36.94 leads the list. He has smashed 22 centuries and 87 fifties.
