Former India captain Virat Kohli ended a 1,020-day dry spell by scoring his 71st international century against Afghanistan in India’s final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2022. Kohli has risen 14 places to 15th after smashing a match-winning 122 not out off 61 deliveries.

He also finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, scoring two half-centuries and signalling a long-awaited return to form.

At the Asia Cup, Kohli amassed an impressive 276 runs, his first international century in nearly three years. Due to his efforts, he rose a total of 14 ranks to land in the 15th slot among all T20I batters.

Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka, whose performances as player of the tournament helped the island nation win the championship, is the other cricketer to make a big splash in the most recent rankings. His outstanding performance, which includes nine wickets in the competition and three by himself in the championship match, enabled him to climb three ranks to sixth place among bowlers and seven spots to fourth place among all-rounders.

Following the Asia Cup, Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, surpassed Mohammad Nabi, a veteran from Afghanistan, to become the new No. 1 T20I all-rounder. Suryakumar Yadav of India, who maintained his fourth-place ranking, is still the sole batter in the top 10.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a seam bowler for Team India, moved up to position seven thanks to his impressive five-for-four performance in the same game. KL Rahul rose from 30th to 23rd place. Significant advancements have been achieved by the spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (up nine spots to 41st) and Axar Patel (up 14 spots to 57th), while Afghanistan batsman Ibrahim Zadran has climbed 55 spots to 63rd following his unbeaten 50 against India.

Hasaranga, a former top-ranked bowler, has advanced in all three lists after a superb all-round performance in the final, which included a 21-ball 36 and a late triple-strike with his leg-spin bowling. He has risen three places to sixth place after a three-wicket haul in the previous match against Pakistan two days earlier. He’s also moved up seven spots to fourth among all-rounders and 28 spots to 152nd among batters.

Haris Rauf of Pakistan, who took three for 29 in the final and two wickets in each of the previous two matches, has risen nine places to 25th. Mohammad Nawaz has risen seven places to 34th, while Mohammad Hasnain has risen 14 places to 96th.
