Kerrion Franklin, the eldest son of popular gospel musician Kirk Franklin, is making headlines after he posted a call recording on Instagram on Saturday in which his father can be heard saying the N-word. “No father should speak to their children like this,” he captioned the post.

After people started reacting to the incident, Kirk, too, took to Instagram and apologised for what happened. He said he lost his temper at the moment and said some words that were extremely inappropriate. Kirk added that he and his son have a toxic relationship for years now. The ‘Hello Fear’ singer claimed that a therapist was also on the call but his son deliberately chose not to post that on social media.

Notably, this is not the first time Kerrion has made a highly-sensitive accusation against Kirk publicly. In July 2018, Kerrion claimed that his famous father was trying to kill him. “My own father is trying to kill me,” he said on Instagram.

The 33-year-old was separated from his family more than 14 years ago and has very little communication with Kirk, 51, according to media reports.

Although back in 2005, Kerrion was featured by Kirk, a Grammy award-winner, in the outro of his 2005 album ‘Hero’. Kerrion was seen delivering a spoken-word piece in it. 

A cinematographer and music producer, Kerrion is known for ‘Mike, Guy Who Takes Everything Too Literally’ (2014), ‘Cartwheels and Backflips’ (2015), and ‘Comedy Bit: Trash’ (2014). His three younger siblings are his brother, Kennedy Franklin, and sisters Caziah Franklin and Carrington Franklin.
