Kyle Pitts is an American football tight end who plays for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). He was signed in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 4th pick overall. 

Pitts was born on 6th October 2000 in Warminster, Pennsylvania. He started his schooling at Abington Senior High School in Abington, before moving to Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania in 2016. After his sophomore year in high school, he switched positions from quarterback to tight end. In 2018, at the end of his high school career, he committed to the University of Florida to play football for the Gators.

Pitts got on the field for the Gators in 11 games as a reserve in his freshman year catching three passes for 73 yards (24.3 per) and scoring a touchdown. The following year, in 2019, Pitts took over as the starting tight end and enjoyed a break-through campaign that year, as he led the Gators with 54 catches for 649 yards (12.0 per) and scored five times in 13 games (12 starts) to earn first-team All-SEC accolades. 

Pitts became a bonafide superstar in 2020, winning the John Mackey Award as the most outstanding tight end in college football for the season. He also earned Associated Press first-team All-American honours. Further, he became the first tight end to be named a Fred Biletnikoff award finalist after a season where he caught 43 passes for 770 yards (17.9 per) and scored 12 receiving touchdowns (tied for third-most in the FBS) in his eight starts.

He registered for the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected as the 4th overall pick in the first round by the Atlanta Falcons, making him the highest drafted tight end in NFL history. He signed a 4-year rookie contract worth $32.9 million with the Falcons.

Pitts transitioned to NFL with exceptional grace, enjoying a spectacular debut campaign and already setting records in the top league. In week 7 against the Miami Dolphins, Pitts helped the Falcons on to a 30-28 win as he finished with 163 receiving yards- an all-time Falcons record for receiving yards in a single game by a tight end.

By week 16, Pitts had broken another Falcon franchise record- for the most receiving yards in a single season by a tight end, and in week 17, Pitts became the only other rookie tight end in NFL history, after Hall-of-Famer Mike Ditka, to surpass 1,000 receiving yards. He finished an outstanding debut campaign with 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a touchdown and was named in the 2022 Pro Bowl- the first rookie in his position to enjoy that honour since Jeremy Shockey in 2002.
