The NFL broadcast team for ‘Sunday Night Football’
consisting of notable sports commentators Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth, who
have caught up in the NFL commentary room after five years, is all set to become
a prime-time show for yet another year. They are also joined by Melissa Stark,
who got back to the NFL fold after a long hiatus.

Who is Mike Tirico?

Mike Tirico is an American sports commentator who works on
American football, basketball, and hockey amongst others. Tirico is 56 years old and was born on December 13, 1966, to the couple Maria Tirico and Donald Tirico
in New York City. While his father is of African descent, his mother is
Italian-American.

Tirico graduated from Bayside High school before graduating
from
S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at
Syracuse University in 1988. He joined ESPN in 1991 as a sports anchor and soon
made a mark with his trademark style. He worked in the play-by-play of ESPN for
Thursday football from 1997 to 2002 while covering NBA next from 2002 for the
next 14 years and golf coverage for the same from 1997-2015.

He also did a variety of other assignments such as commentating
for the US Open in 2009 which Juan Martin Del Potro won and also worked in
commentary for the FIFA World Cups in 2010 and 14 in South Africa and Brazil
respectively. After quitting ESPN, the veteran sports broadcaster found work at NBC where he once again served as a lead
one-by-one play announcer for American football, albeit with the difference
that it was now for NFL (Thursday night).

After being highly successful in the broadcast section of Thursday
night football games, he worked in NHL broadcast briefly before returning to
the NFL fold in 2022 April, where he reprised his old partnership with Cris
Collinsworth in the box.

The 56-year-old star commentator is married to a woman named
Debbie and has two children with her.
