Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Hardik Pandya in the 14th over of the second innings to reduce the Gujarat Titans to 86/3. With the wicket, the Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner re-claimed the purple cap. He now has 27 scalps against his name in 17 matches. 

Chahal’s tally is the most by a spinner in an IPL season. He overtook Imran Tahir’s 26 from 2019.

Yuzi Chahal has been in some form this season. He has taken 27 wickets, including a fifer, hattrick and four-fer, in 17 games at an average of close just under 20 and economy rate of 7.75 rpo. The Rajasthan leg-spinner has dominated the purple cap charts for most part of the season.

Against the Titans, Chahal gave away 20 runs for one wicket in his four-over quota. Hardik Pandya and co chased down the 131-run target with 11 balls to spare and won the IPL 2022 final by seven wickets.
