The San Francisco 49ers are currently competing against the Philadelphia Eagles for the chance to face the winner of today’s Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs game in the Big Game in February. As of right now, the score is 7-28 in favor of The Eagles.

The Niners are in serious trouble as a result of Brock Purdy’s and Josh Johnson‘s injuries and several costly penalties that have become worse and worse.

Key Developments of the match:

Christian McCaffrey took on as San Francisco 49ers quarterback briefly against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC title game at the Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. The WR had to soon give away the role to starter Brock Purdy.

The 49ers, struggling against Jalen Hurts and co, lost their starting quarterback Brock Purdy in the first half. The rookie, Mr Irrelevant, sustained a blow on his elbow and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Josh Johnson. The Eagles led 21-7 at halftime.

Johnson, early in the third quarter, suffered an apparent concussion. He was taken off the field. San Francisco, with no more options left, asked star wide receiver Christian McCaffrey to take on as quarterback.

However, McCaffrey’s stint did not last long. Purdy came back into the game.

Twitter reactions:

“McCaffrey has to take the reins of the@49ers offense at QB if we want to win #FTTB,” a Twitter user said.

“Can’t they just shoot Purdy up so he can throw it? If not an option anymore then just put McCaffrey in and run read option. Pretending like he can throw is not gonna work Shanahan,” another one added.

“Can Christian McCaffrey become the quarterback for the 49ers,” a third one tweeted.

If the San Francisco 49ers want to make the Super Bowl, they will need to make a significant comeback and they need to do it now!
