Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo has been changed to a Shiba Inu dog, a symbol often associated with the cryptocurrency, Dogecoin. This resulted in Dogecoin’s market value spiking by about 30% on Monday.

Long back a Twitter user had suggested Musk buy Twitter and change its logo just out of spite. It seems like he has just considered the user’s advice. “Is a new platform needed?” Musk had once tweeted, to which the user had replied, “Just buy Twitter. And change the bird logo to a doge.” At that time the Tesla owner thought it was joke and hence he replied, “Haha that would [be] sickkk.”

On Monday he posted a screenshot of the interaction on Twitter and added, “As promised.”

Musk has been nicknamed “The Dogefather” for often voicing his support for the crypto coin. He currently faces a $258 billion class-action lawsuit in federal court after he allegedly engaged in a pyramid scheme by promoting that cryptocurrency.

The latest move by Musk has reinforced the persistent rumor that he is planning to allow dogecoin payments on the social media platform. However, the rumor is far from being confirmed.

What is Shiba Inu dog symbol?

The Shiba Inu dog is a breed of hunting dog from Japan which is a small-to-medium breed. It is native to Japan and its name translates to “brushwood dog.” It is used to flush the game. It is often mistaken for other Japanese dog breeds such as the Akita Inu or Hokkaido.

The breed of dog has become something of a pop culture icon after it became a viral internet meme in 2013. The meme included a Shiba Inu encircled by Comic Sans text in broken English.

It became even more popular when the member was adopted as the symbol for Dogecoin, which was launched in 2013, by two software engineers as a lighthearted project, almost like a meme coin.
