Pat Sajak, 76, the longstanding presenter of “Wheel of Fortune,” announced on Twitter on Monday that the upcoming season of the adored NBC program will be his last.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last.”

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)” he added.

Sajak has hosted “Wheel” since 1981. Resident letter-turner Vanna White, 66, joined the show a year later.

The show’s official Twitter account also shared the news, writing along with a picture of Sajak: “Thank you to the best host in the biz. Wheel of Fortune would not be what it is today without you, Pat. Looking forward to Season 41 being better than ever!”

Pat Sajak, who has hosted the iconic game show since the ’80s, welcomed the next generation on set as his daughter, Maggie Sajak, filled in for “Wheel” co-host Vanna White last month. White competed as a contestant alongside “Jeopardy!” hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings.

Together with his wife Lesly Brown, the Wheel of Fortune host welcomed Maggie in 1995. Patrick is the couple’s other son.

Maggie’s Instagram bio states that she is a law student right now. After graduating from Princeton University, she went on to Columbia University to pursue a postgraduate degree.

She didn’t always have a goal of becoming a lawyer, though. Maggie, a Princeton sophomore at the time, explained to The Daily Front Row in 2013 that she was enrolling in a pre-med course “in case I ever want to go to medical school.”

Maggie is no stranger to the Wheel of Fortune stage, having watched her father host the popular game show since 1981. In fact, she made her Wheel of Fortune debut when she was just a baby! Maggie, who is now 28 years old, has expanded her responsibilities with the program, beginning in 2020 as a “special letter toucher” and continuing through 2021 as the social correspondent for the program.
