A shooting incident occurred outside the courthouse in Colorado Springs on Thursday, as confirmed by police authorities. The incident claimed the life of one individual and injured another.

Following a reported incident, the El Paso Courthouse in Downtown Colorado Springs has been shuttered. At 10:30 am, two judges cleared the building of confusion by informing their respective courtrooms that they would be closed for the rest of the day.

According to later reports, the incident happened outside the El Paso Courthouse. Investigators found someone on the ground who seemed to have been shot, and Colorado Springs Police spokeswoman Ira Cronin confirmed the death. The courthouse closure is a component of the incident’s continuing inquiry.

At 12:24 p.m., the El Paso County Courthouse was the scene of a shooting, according to a statement from the Colorado Springs Police Department on X. By 12:36 p.m., though, an update had made it clear that there was no active shooter scenario, assuring the public that the town was safe. For the rest of the day, the courthouse was closed, and more updates were promised when they were thought necessary.

There were a lot of police and first responder cars at the Colorado scene, and the CSPD had put up screens and caution tape to block the public’s view. Tejon Street was blocked for ongoing police investigations between Colorado and Vermijo.

Police officers were seen carrying an unidentified woman who was upset as she wept outside the courthouse. According to witnesses at the site, at least one individual was shot in what appeared to be a domestic violence episode. A crime scene was prepared and the courthouse was evacuated.

As reported by CBS, a female witness said that the shooting had something to do with a husband and wife fighting at home. It is yet unknown whether the two individuals receiving treatment for minor injuries at the scene are the victims of gunfire, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
