Gina Rinehart, the richest woman in Australia and a mining magnate, was pictured at the Mar-a-Largo resort in Florida, where former US President Donald Trump launched his 2024 presidential campaign.

Rinehart, who has yet to publicly confirm her attendance at the event, appeared in a selfie posted by Trump’s son, Eric Trump, and his wife, Lara. Rinehart, wearing a pearl necklace and looking away from the camera, can be seen in the background of the picture sitting behind Eric. Rinehart is likely not aware that the picture is being taken.

With a personal net worth of $34.02 billion, Rinehart topped the Financial Review rich list for a third year in a row in 2022. She has previously supported Trump and hailed his “exciting” presidency in 2016. She previously praised Trump and cited his plans for the American economy at the time, urging Australia to adopt similar policies, such as lowering business taxes.

Before Trump was elected president in 2016, she met with important figures in his inner circle, including Rudy Giuliani and Kellyanne Conway, in Washington. She also criticized the American media for its “constant and unrelenting negative coverage” of Trump.

Despite being the subject of numerous criminal investigations and the underwhelming results of the candidates he supported in last week’s midterm elections, Trump has declared he will run for president of the United States once more in 2024.

A week after elections in which Republicans did not succeed in gaining as many seats in Congress as they had hoped, Trump announced his third presidential campaign on November 15 at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Trump addressed hundreds of supporters in a ballroom adorned with numerous chandeliers and dozens of American flags during a speech that was live broadcast on US television. The US Federal Election Commission received paperwork earlier in the day from aides establishing a committee called “Donald J. Trump for President 2024.”
