American musician Lizzo has pledged to donate $500,000 to non-profit organization Planned Parenthood, following the US Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade, a 1973 case that safeguarded a woman’s constitutional right to get an abortion.

“I’m pledging $500k from my upcoming tour to Planned Parenthood and Abortion Rights,” she wrote in a tweet on Friday, announcing that entertainment company Live Nation “agreed to match— to make it 1 MILLION dollars.”

“The most important thing is action & loud voices. @PPFA @AbortionFunds & organizations like them— will need funding to continue offering services to people who are most harmed by this ban,” she said in another tweet, directing her audience to the Lizzo Loves You website, which she launched as an initiative to help Black organizations.

“This is a great loss but not a new one. Go to http://lizzolovesyou.com to donate, sign the Bans Off My Body petition and sign up to volunteer and take action,” she continued in the thread.

“Black women & women of color have historically had disproportionately less access to family planning resources— this is a great loss but not a new one,” Lizzo added.

Live Nation is among several other music companies such as Sony Music, Tidal, UTA, CAA, Warner Music, and WME, which have announced that they will cover travel expenses for employees who require abortion services.

On the other hand, Lizzo is among several artists from Hollywood including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish, who have expressed their outrage over the ruling.

“Watching a Constitutional right be stripped away is horrific. A woman should have the right to CHOOSE what she wants to do with her own body. End of story,” Gomez wrote on Twitter.
