On Friday Twitter
Inc. took an unprecedented decision to suspend the account of one of the world’s most controversial
yet influential men, US President Donald Trump and the person who lead this
decision, which will be remembered by posterity as a the strongest symbol of
breaking ‘silence against violence’, was an Indian immigrant woman,
Vijaya Gadde.

Vijaya, who was described as the only woman on Twitter’s executive team by Fortune, took to her twitter handle to make the announcement of what can be dubbed the ‘landmark move’ of her entire career.

“The account of Donald Trump has been permanently suspended from Twitter due to the risk of further violence. We’ve also published our policy enforcement analysis.” tweeted Vijaya.

Born in India, Gadde moved to the US when she was a child and grew up in Texas, where her father worked as a chemical engineer on oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico, ANI reported.

According to ANI, Vijaya completed her high school in New Jersey and went on to pursue graduation from Cornell University and New York University Law School. She spent almost a decade at a law firm working with tech startups before she joined the social-media company Twitter in 2011.

Operational
in the background, Gadde has been more than responsible for moulding twitter policies
and her influence helped Twitter shape its image in global politics.

According to a Fortune report, Vijaya was present in the Oval Office when Twitter co-founder and
chief executive officer Jack Dorsey met with US President Donald Trump last
year and even joined Dorsey when he met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in
November 2018, which speaks volume of her influence as an employee and an individual on the company’s picture across the globe.

Attributable
to her decade long experience that compelled her to take some strong headed decisions,
Gadde garnered tremendous attention and was heavily profiled by some of the
leading US publications.

From
being called ‘the most powerful social media executive you’ve never heard of’
