Jason Whitlock, former ESPN columnist and current conservative host on The Blaze went viral recently after he claimed that the Twitter Blue subscription cost was the same as what toilet paper costs him daily – a comment that incurred a number of memes and mocking reactions from “concerned” Twitter users.

On April 20, Twitter went viral on its own platform after hundreds of thousands of verified users lost their blue check mark on the platform after failing to pay the $8 a month mandatory fee for enjoying the privileges of Twitter Blue. Users had been previously warned that the deadline to get their Twitter Blue subscription was April 20 and Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, made good on his warning.

As many previously verified Twitter users are still not keen on paying an $8 monthly fee subscription to get the checklist, many of Musk’s fans are trying to gather more subscriptions for him by highlighting how cheap the subscription fee is. One of them is Whitlock, who tweeted on Friday, “It’s $8 a month to support a service that — whether we like it or not — media members use daily to do their jobs. I do not understand the reluctance to pay the $8. The entitled will refuse to pay and support. They always want something for nothing. It’s about support, not fame.”

One person wondered if Whitlock was paying for his blue check mark. “Is Blaze paying it for you or is it coming out of your pocket and your not being reimbursed for it,” the user asked. At this, Whitlock replied, “Dude, it’s $8 a month. A Big Mac and fries. Good lord, I probably use $8 a day in toilet paper.”

The response went viral on Twitter as people were aghast to find out that Whitlock spends $8 every day for toilet paper. Some even dug out how many toilet rolls can be bought at that price and asked him to consult a doctor for his bowels.
