In celebration of Independence Day, Sheetz is dropping its gas rates to $1.776 per gallon, the firm said on Monday. The price cut honors the year that the Declaration of Independence was ratified.

The president and CEO of Sheetz, Travis Sheetz, said, “We hope this discount helps our customers keep a little more change in their wallets as they travel to celebrate the 4th of July with friends and family, with an obvious nod to our nation’s birthday.”

For the Fourth of July, Sheetz will reduce the price of gas on all blends to $1.776 per gallon, including regular, E85 (flex fuel), unleaded 88, mid-grade, and premium gasoline grades. Diesel fuel will not be covered by it. This applies to all Sheetz locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The July 4th limited-time promotion will start at 12:01 am and last through the end of the day, or as long as promotional gallons last.

In a similar move in 2022, Sheetz reduced the price of two of their mixes to be more than $1 below the national average for the Fourth of July. The Pennsylvania-based business has kept up with the pattern during travel-heavy holidays, including as this past Thanksgiving, when it reduced the price of several blends to $1.99 per gallon.

According to AAA, the national average price of gasoline as of June 3 was $3.53 per gallon, which is 10 cents less than the average in Pennsylvania and somewhere between 3 and 30 cents more than the average in the other states where Sheetz has locations.
