With the polling for the 2022 US Midterms closing on Tuesday, several celebrities shared which candidate they supported this year. Celebrities, including Harry Styles, Chris Pratt, Cher, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry, took to social media to express their support for the candidates.

Candidates that some celebrities supported this year

Chris Patt

On Sunday, Chris Pratt endorsed Rick Caruso, a millionaire running for the Mayor of Los Angeles. Caruso is a Republican candidate and he was running against Congresswoman Karen Bass in the midterm elections on Tuesday. Bass and Caruso are running to replace Mayor Eric Garcetti.

Selena Gomez 

The singer took to her social media and urged her Texas fans to support Beto O’Rourke. She captioned her Instagram story, “I had the pleasure of meeting @betoorourke a few years ago and was so impressed by him. For those of you in my home state of Texas, please vote for him!” the singer wrote on her Instagram.

Katy Perry

On Monday, Katy Perry revealed that she had also supported Rick Caruso for the Mayor of Los Angeles. She posted her image on Instagram, saying, “I’m voting for a variety of reasons, but in particular since Los Angeles is a hot mess right now.”

Cher

The pop icon emphasized her support for two female candidates, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in the two videos that she shared on her social media profile. 

Pharell 

On election day, Pharell publicly declared his support for the Democratic Party by tweeting a picture of himself with Virginia Beach City Council candidate Jennifer Rouse. He captioned it, “Y’all see who I’m standing with, now go cast your votes,” he tweeted. “@jenniferrousevb for District 10. B.S in English M.S in Sociology and an Educator at TCC. #change is good.”

John Legend 

John Legend extended his support to Stacey Abrams for the governor of Georgia. The tweet read, “Georgia voters: I am campaigning for Stacey Abrams for Governor! We’ve seen how hard Stacey has worked for ALL Georgians,” “So now, let’s make history on November 08. VOTE!”

According to reports, Stacey Abrams lost in her second bid to become Georgia Governor. She lost the race by about 55,000 votes to Brian Kemp.

Apart from these celebrities, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift also took to her Instagram to urge fans to cast their ballots and also explained the importance of elections and the issues at stake for the American people. Billie Eilish also put up a video message on Instagram in which she asked her fans to vote and also explained the importance of voting.
