The South Korean boy band BTS consisting of Jimin, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, RM, Jungkook,
and V has taken the world by a storm with their music. The young music
makers became the first K-pop band to be nominated for a Grammy Award and have
ruled worldwide music charts. They accompanied South Korean president Moon Jae-in
at the United Nations General Assembly.

The members of the band were given
their diplomatic passports last week in an official ceremony where they were
appointed as special presidential envoys for future generations and culture.
The band attended the ‘Sustainable Development
Goals Moment’ ceremony where they performed their hit song Permission to Dance and
took a stand against racial discrimination and hate speech.

During the meeting, all members revisit
and review the 17 sustainable development goals. This year’s event focuses on
the coronavirus pandemic recovery efforts and building a momentum to achieve
the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development.
BTS member Kim Nam-joon better known
as RM spoke at a special ceremony ahead of the band’s trip to New York where he
said, “It is a huge honor, both as an
individual and a citizen, to be able to hold the title of special presidential
envoy for future generations and culture,” as per the Korean Herald.

The BTS Army reacted to their favourite
band’s presence at the UNGA with a flurry of tweets.

According to a Twitter user the members revealed that they have
all been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The band enjoys a cult following all
over the globe and their popularity is growing even more with each passing day.
They will be releasing a new song ‘My Universe’ in collaboration with Coldplay.
