Bodies of eight people, including five minors, were found Wednesday afternoon inside a house in Enoch city, Utah.

Authorities said that the victims reportedly died of gunshot wounds. “Officers checked the residence and found three adults and five minors deceased inside the home,” a release from police stated. “At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large.”

The Iron County School District confirmed that the five minors were “students in our schools” who “tragically passed away.”

“This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school district, especially our students,” the letter said. “We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as needed.”

The victims are yet to be identified.

Where is Enoch, Utah? 

Enoch is a rural and agricultural city in Iron County, Utah, located approximately 7 miles northeast of Cedar City in the northeast part of Cedar Valley. The population of the city as per the 2010 census is 5,803, which rose up from 3,467 at the 2000 census.

As of 2018 the estimated population was 7,039.

Enoch was officially incorporated on January 10, 1966, absorbing nearby Grimshawville, Stevensville, and Williamsville. 

The city has a total area of 7.2 square miles, all land. It is bordered to the south by Cedar City. Interstate 15 forms the southeastern border of Enoch, with access from Exit 62 to the south and Exit 71 to the northeast. I-15 leads north 245 miles to Salt Lake City and southwest 175 miles to Las Vegas.
