Foad Dabiri, Twitter’s head of engineering announced his resignation on Thursday. The resignation came a day after Twitter’s catastrophic attempt to launch a presidential campaign for Ron DeSantis on the platform.

Foad Dabiri posted a tweet saying, “After almost four incredible years at Twitter, I decided to leave the nest yesterday. ‘The combination of the fantastic community, the impact it has, and its limitless potential sets Twitter apart”.

Who is Foad Dabiri?

Foad Dabiri earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and an M.S. and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He was working at Twitter as a head of engineering.

Though he has not revealed the reason for his resignation, one can anticipate the reason.

But some might say it may be because his company was severely harmed by Wednesday night’s chaos, in which Twitter was unable to live-stream the audio of DeSantis’s campaign launch, as well as a hot mic discussion with Twitter’s owner Elon Musk and moderator David Sacks.

However, when asked about the reason for the debacle. Elon Musk said the problems occurred due to “server strain” and “melting the servers”, claiming that it was the largest event ever hosted online. Though many indicated that far larger events than this instance had gone off without a hitch.

After resigning from the position, Dabiri made a lengthy post on Twitter and thanked his colleagues and friends.

His post said, “To say it was challenging at the outset would be an understatement. The change was massive and rapid; we came through and emerged stronger, thanks to the remarkable team that held the fort.”

“Working with Elon Musk has been highly educational, and it was enlightening to see how his principles and vision are shaping the future of this company.”
