Former President Donald Trump has criticized Maui Governor Josh Green and President Joe Biden for their handling of the devastating wildfire that has swept through Maui, Hawaii.

Trump accused the governor of blaming the disaster on global warming and other vague factors, rather than taking responsibility for the lack of preparedness and poor management of the aftermath.

Recently, Green, in an MSNBC interview, when pressed about why Lahaina residents weren’t warned or sirens didn’t go off, the governor starts talking about Global warming.

Who is Josh Green?

Joshua Booth Green, born in 1970, is an American politician and physician who has been serving as the governor of Hawaii since 2022. He belongs to the Democratic Party and has held various political roles throughout his career. Before becoming governor, Green served as the 15th lieutenant governor of Hawaii from 2018 to 2022. He was also a member of the Hawaii Senate from 2008 to 2018 and a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008.

Green was born in Kingston, New York, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated as a valedictorian from Quaker Valley High School in 1988. He pursued higher education, receiving a Bachelor of Science in anthropology from Swarthmore College in 1992 and a Doctor of Medicine from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 1997.

After completing his medical residency, Green practiced family medicine and worked in emergency rooms in Hawaii, often serving in rural areas. He received recognition as Physician of the Year by the Hawaii Medical Association twice for his leadership and service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Green entered politics by being elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2004 and later to the Hawaii Senate in 2008. He championed initiatives such as Luke’s Law, which created an insurance mandate for children with autism, and raising the legal age for tobacco products to 21.

In 2018, Green became lieutenant governor, focusing on addressing homelessness and healthcare issues. He became governor in 2022 after winning the Democratic primary and general election. He is known for his medical background and his commitment to public service.
