A shooter opened fire at a birthday party in a park, killing Autumn Vallian and injuring a number of other people. After dozens of rounds were allegedly fired, four other persons were shot, including two suspected shooters, according to authorities.

Who was Autumn Vallian?

Autumn Vallian was a five-month pregnant woman who was shot dead in front of her family on Friday night. This incident took place while Vallian was attending a birthday party at Margaret Jenkins Park in South Houston, Texas. She was only 21 years old at the time of her death.

Ebony Vallian, the mother of the 21-year-old, claimed that her daughter knew the accused. Autumn Vallian was at the park with her friends and family, celebrating a birthday, when things went wrong.

“They started a little commotion as we were getting ready to leave,” Ebony Vallian told ABC13. “One (man) pulled a gun. When he pulled his gun, the other guy’s girlfriend came out of her truck and came with a gun.”

“They were talking back and forth about who would do what and however, and they started shooting at each other.” Ebony Vallian added that her daughter was attempting to flee before the altercation got out of hand. When Ebony Vallian turned around, she said her daughter was shot.

Devastated, the victim’s mother said of her firstborn: “I looked back, and my baby was down on the ground. Gone. I just lost my baby. (She was) in school, trying to get a job. Trying to become something, and she’s gone now.”

According to authorities, a shooting took place near southeast Houston’s Margaret Jenkins Park at 1:14 in the morning. Using its ShotSpotter technology, the Houston Police Department received numerous reports of bullets being fired at the location, according to Assistant Chief E. Garcia.

Garcia stated at a press conference that “a total of 36 shots came in from that technology.” According to Garcia, police suspect that after a confrontation between two groups of people in the park, some of the participants pulled out their weapons and started shooting.

The two alleged shooters were among the three victims who were taken to a nearby hospital after being shot, according to Garcia. He claimed that their conditions were stable. He claimed that one individual had a graze wound but chose not to go to the hospital.
