Ajaz Patel, a New Zealander who competes in domestic cricket for Central Districts, was born on October 21, 1988. Patel is a left-arm orthodox spinner. Patel became only the third bowler in Test cricket history to take all ten wickets in an innings in December 2021 during the second game against India. The other two were Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

Patel was included in the Test team for New Zealand’s matchup with Pakistan in July 2018. He was included in the Twenty20 International (T20I) team for New Zealand in October 2018 as well, for their series against Pakistan. On October 31, 2018, he played in his first T20I match for New Zealand against Pakistan.
He was also included in New Zealand’s One Day International (ODI) team during the same tour, however he did not participate in the ODI series. On November 16, 2018, he played in his first Test match for New Zealand against Pakistan.
