POSCO stands for Pohang Iron and Steel Co Ltd and is headquartered at Pohand. “South Korean steelmaker Posco has succeeded in locally producing special steel pipes for hydrogen transportation and will supply them for the first time to the city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province,” the company said Tuesday.
To carry the large volume of hydrogen transfer required in hydrogen test bed towns like Ansan, larger pipes as broad as 20 centimetres are required. However, imported products with welded parts were only used on a limited basis due to safety concerns, according to Posco.
