Emilio Flores Márquez held the record for being the oldest living male on Earth until he died on August 12, 2021 just four days after his 113th birthday.

Born on August 8, 1908 in Puerto Rico’s Carolina, Marquez had 10 siblings and was the second-oldest of them. Marquez’s record of being the world’s oldest living male was confirmed on June 30, 2021 when he was 112 years and 326 days old. 

Robert Young, representative of the Guinness World Records, had said on the occasion that Emilio Flores Marquez is the last validated man confirmed to have been born in 1908.

The oldest person to have ever lived was Jeanne Clament of France who lived to be 122 years and 164 days old. The oldest man to have ever lived is Jiroemon Kimura who passed away at the age of 116 years and 54 days on June 12, 2013.
