The Swachh Toycathon is a competition set up by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The event will come under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban. Swachh Toycathon aims at ‘Rethinking Indian toy industry’ according to the Innovate India website.
The goal of the competition is to bring together individuals across all age groups in addition to organisations and startups in an effort to bring forth ‘innovation and circularity in design and packaging’ of games and toys. To that end, the toys entered into the competition must be toys and play-zones designed using waste and recycled materials. The competition also accepts entries which are prototypes of eco-friendly toys and packaging as well as other ideas that rethink the toy industry.
The Toycathon officially launched on September 26, 2022 with applications to be a part of it open until November 11, 2022.
Competitors will be shortlisted by November 25, 2022 with the evaluation of the selected entries as well as the exhibition and awards for the winners to be in December 2022.
The competition has been divided into two categories, the individuals and the groups. The individuals category is further divided into two categories: Junior, for those under the age of 18, and Senior, for those over the age of 18.
Under the groups category, individuals can band together in teams of 2 to 5 individuals.
