The devastating flood in Assam has claimed 107 lives as three more people died on Wednesday. Over 1.65 million people have been affected, as per the bulletin issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), on July 29.
21 out of the state’s 33 districts have been affected. As many as 37,012 people are housed in the 321 relief camps set up across the state.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the flood-affected regions on Wednesday. He inspected an embankment on the Charikoria river in Lakhimpur’s Dhakuakhana. He also visited the flood-affected Jiadhal river site, a tributary of the Brahmaputra.
Meanwhile, floods continue to wreak havoc in neighboring Bihar. 11 people have died, with three deaths reported on Wednesday in Darbangha district. Over 3.84 million people across 12 districts have been affected by the flood, as per the bulletin issued by Bihar’s Disaster Management Authority.
