‘Future ke baare me kya socha hai?’ ‘Fathers are not ATM machines’ or ‘Sharma Ji Ke Bachon Se Kuch Seekho’ – desi fathers can always be associated with some typical dialogues. And as much as one might get annoyed by all the ‘pep talk’, we all understand the value fathers add to every aspect of our lives.

On this Father’s day let’s not forget to recall all those moments. All
dads are the same, they have certain rules and regulations that we don’t
understand and they have ideologies we don’t always agree to.

They all have a set of dialogues and catchphrases that they
love throwing at us whenever they get a chance to. And sometimes they will even
go to great lengths to make you understand, and only we kids are meant to be at
the receiving end.

Below are some typical Indian dad dialogues that all of us
have heard at one point or the other.

Aage ka kya socha hai? (So what have you decided about your
future?)

This one is the beginning of a long lecture on almost anything and
everything. It can be related either to studies, marriage, relationship, job,
money, and so on.

Paise pedh pe nahi ugte – (Money doesn’t grow on trees)

I bet this dialogue is their most favorite one. Along with
this comes the explanation on the importance of money, and how we should minimize
our expenses rather than spending them carelessly.

Tum jab humari umar ke ho jaoge tab samjhoge – (You’ll
understand when you’re older)

They always explain the struggles they faced during their
time and constantly remind us of how lazy we are.

Humare zamane mein… ( In our times…)

Most conversations that start with this lead to a walk down
memory lane. Further explaining how things used to work at their times and how
it has changed now.

 Pura time phone pe hi
baithe raho.. (Don’t use your phone all the time), kuch kaam bhi karlo.. (do
some work) are some of the favorites ones too.

But, at the end of the day, our dads are our go-to
problem-busters whenever we are faced with anything, big or small, in our lives,
they are always there for us. And just for that, we love them with or without
their typical phrases.
