Infosys co-founder and billionaire businessman Narayana Murthy wished his son-in-law Rishi Sunak success as the 42-year-old was appointed as Britain’s Prime Minister.

“Congratulations to Rishi. We are proud of him and wish him success. We are confident he will do his best for the people of the United Kingdom,” Narayana Murthy said in his first comments about Sunak’s win in the race to lead both the United Kingdom and the Conservative Party.

Sunak will be succeeding incumbent Liz Truss, Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister. Truss congratulated Sunak on landing the top job in the British government, pledging her full support to the Indian-origin PM elect.

Sunak is married to Akshata. The couple have two daughters together. Born in Southampton to British-Indian parents who had emigrated from East Africa, Sunak completed his education at Winchester College. He studied philosophy, politics, and economics at Lincoln College, Oxford, and went on to receive his MBA from Stanford University.
