Piers Morgan has criticized BBC on Twitter heavily for refusing to reveal the presenter who is allegedly responsible for bribing a teen for explicit pictures.

Morgan tweeted on Tuesday, “Everyone in UK media knows who it is, including everyone working at the BBC – many of whose other male presenters continue to be wrongly targeted/tarnished on social media as being the person involved. It’s an untenable situation. The presenter should name and defend himself.”

The high-profile broadcaster reportedly paid more than £35,000 for pornographic images and appeared in his underwear during a video conversation with a then-17-year-old. The anonymous BBC presenter has been challenged by Piers Morgan to speak up and offer an answer right away.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that the teen’s mother had complained to the BBC after the child used the money to support a crack cocaine addiction. The mother also claimed that the broadcaster was responsible for “destroying her child’s life.” Reportedly, the unidentified BBC presenter wasn’t contacted for seven weeks after the accusation was made.

On July 9, the BBC announced that it has contacted the Metropolitan Police regarding the presenter’s alleged activities. Since then, another claim has been made against the presenter, in which a second young person claims they felt threatened after being contacted by the presenter via a dating app.

Piers also discussed the incident and its latest updates stating, “The presenter concerned, we all know who it is. The public doesn’t know who it is yet. Would it be prudent for this presenter to come out if he has nothing to hide? If what this young alleged victim has put in this legal letter is true and there is nothing legal or improper about whatever relationship they may or may not have had.”

“Would it not be the smart thing to do for this presenter to come out and talk frankly about this? And maybe not even defend himself but say, ‘This is what happened and I have nothing to hide’,” Piers added.

Along with Piers Morgan, Jeremy Vine, another well-known BBC presenter, called for the person at the center of the controversy to come forward. He said, “I’m starting to think the BBC Presenter involved in the scandal should now come forward publicly. These new allegations will result in yet more vitriol being thrown at perfectly innocent colleagues of his. And the BBC, which I’m sure he loves, is on its knees with this. But it is his decision and his alone.”
