Former TV-am star Nick Owen has revealed that he has ‘extensive’ and ‘aggressive’ prostate cancer.

Following his brief absence from BBC One’s Midlands Today, Owen, 75, spoke on Monday about the severe impact the sickness has had on his life.

‘I went to a specialist, he wasn’t very worried because my stats weren’t that high,’ he told the news program.’

‘But he said I should get a scan, and the scan said there’s something wrong, so he sent me for a biopsy, which he did.’

‘And the results of that were the killer – on April 13th, a date (that) will long be seared in my consciousness.’

‘He informed us that it was extensive, actually, and aggressive, and I had prostate cancer full-on, and something needed to be done rather fast.’
