Vaughn Dolphin, a far-right extremist, was convicted in a Birmingham crown court on two counts of charges of possession of explosives. Materials used to make explosives, including nitrocellulose, were discovered during a raid of his home in June last year.

He was also found guilty of possessing an unlicensed firearm that he had made using an aluminum tube, as well as terrorism charges.

Who is Vaughn Dolphin?

Vaughn Dolphin is a 20-year-old college student from Walsall in the West Midlands. He was arrested in June 2022 from his grandfather’s home.

A far-right extremist, Dolphin has openly spoken of his desire for ethnic minorities to be shot. He was a prominent face in the social media forums of far-right extremist groups. Some of the content he posted on social media were viewed by the jury as incriminating as they handed him the conviction.

In one such self-filmed video, Dolphin can be seen attempting to blend a blast mixture in a saucepan on a domestic gas oven. The experiment went awry and the mixture exploded prematurely causing a lot of smoke.

He spoke of causing an “awesome fireball” in videos he posted on some far-right chatrooms, and after the experiment went wrong, complained, “Ah the bastard fucking mixture set itself prematurely, oh my God. Next time I’ll do this outside, but, ah well, you live and learn.”

During his arrest, Johnson had said, “I’m not a terrorist, OK? I have an interest in chemicals and military memorabilia, that’s all.”
