Sargun Mehta has made her name in the Punjabi film industry, not just for her brilliant acting but also for being fierce, beautiful and a die-hard romantic. In her new film ‘Qismat 2’, fans will catch a glimpse of her real-life persona. Directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, the movie takes up the theme of unrequited love from the 2018 film ‘Qismat’ that also starred Sargun along with Amy Virk.

‘Qismat’ had a successful run at the box office and Sargun says she is stunned to see part two receiving the same appreciation in theaters despite the pandemic. “We were scared because of Covid, whether people would turn up in theatres. It was a huge risk but people showed a lot of trust in us and in the system. I am so happy that people came to theatres and watched the film and loved it,” she told Opoyi.
The film also made its online premiere on Zee5 global on October 29, 2021.
Sargun said the success of Qismat was not intimidating. “We wanted to be very sure about part two and when Jagdeep Sidhu narrated to us, we were like, this is it,” she said. “We thought this was worth the storytelling. It was Qismat 2. It was just beautiful,” she added.

Sargun says she believes in destiny. “Two people meet because they are meant to be together. There is a part of us that we tend to forget and somebody comes and shines a little light in there and that is your other half, your better half,” she said.
Sargun made her feature film debut with the 2015 romantic comedy ‘Angrej’ that became the second highest-grossing Punjabi film of the year. Her other successful films include Love Punjab (2016) and Lahoriye (2017). To a question on why she has stayed away from Hindi films, Sargun said, “I have already shot for my first Hindi film. It’s going to be coming out next year.”
