Virat Kohli‘s innings against South Africa on Sunday made him the first Indian to score more than 11,000 runs. The former Indian skipper crossed the milestone in his 354th T20 game. Kohli was just shy of a half-century on Sunday, scoring 49 runs off 28 deliveries. He played at a strike rate of 175.
While Kohli became the first Indian to cross the 11,000 run mark, he is followed by skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Sharam has scored 5879 in the Indian Premier League and 3737 in international games. Dhawan has tallied more than 8,000 runs in IPL and international T20 games.
Virat Kohli also completed 3700 runs in T20I cricket on Sunday against South Africa. He has played 109 games and has an average strike rate of 138.09.
Virat Kohli is now the fourth player globally to cross the 11,000 T20 runs mark. The three other players who have crossed this milestone are: Chris Gayle (14,562), Kieron Pollard (11,915) and Shoaib Malik (11,902).
India put up a score of 237 in 20 over, the highest the Proteas have ever faced in a T20 international game. The other three on the list were against West Indies in 2015 (236), England in 2022 (234) and England in 2016 (230).

A sellout crowd witnessed raining boundaries at the small ACA Barsapara Stadium as the Indian batters smashed 25 fours and 13 sixes. They scored 178 runs in boundaries. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started it before Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik wrapped up the innings.
With the top-four doing the bulk of the scoring, India’s designated finisher Karthik got just seven balls but he made the most of the opportunity, smashing two sixes and one four.
