NFL fans were handed a stark reminder of Tua Tagovailoa’s head injury once again on Week 5, when Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines also appeared to have suffered a concussion. The Colts were facing the Denver Broncos in Thursday Night Football in Week 5 of the 2022 NFL season, when Hines was hit hard in the initial minutes of the first quarter.
The running back stood up, however, wobbled right after as he was caught by his teammates from falling down once again. The play was stopped quickly and Hines was taken off the field as he was seen leaving for the locker room after that.

The extent of Hines’ injury is yet to be confirmed by the team but reports have confirmed that the running back will not return to the game, following Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa’s horrific head injury that caused him a seizure on the field.

Watching Hines wobbling after getting up and struggling to remain standing reminded fans of Tua Tagovailoa’s injury as many pointed it out on social media platforms. “Nyheim Hines is wobbly after getting hit hard. This shouldn’t be hard: Don’t let him back in,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Hines registered 1 carry for 3 yards and 1 reception for 5 yards before he suffered the heavy hit that forced him off the field. He has been in decent form for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2022 NFL season, having registered 8 carries for 11 yards, 17 receptions for 113 yards and 1 fumble.
According to reports, Hines will not return to the game against the Denver Broncos for the NFL concussion protocol. Following Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion in Week 3, the NFL and the NFLPA issued a joint statement last week, putting an end to a loophole that allowed teams to send players with “gross motor instability” back on the field if medical practitioners deemed that something other than a head injury was the reason behind it.
