Social media platform Twitter stopped working for thousands of users in India and throughout the world on Friday, November 4. As per Downdetector, the Twitter outage began at 5 am on Friday and was reported at its peak at around 8:30 am.

However, the Twitter outage seems to have affected only selected users who are trying to access the micro-blogging platform from their desktops. Meanwhile, the mobile application of the social media platform is yet to malfunction for users.

Some users reported that they are not being able to login into Twitter using their desktops on Friday morning. An attempt to log in resulted in an error saying, “something went wrong but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot.” The message also had a “try again” button below it.

However, a few mobile users have also reported that they are unable to load photos on their Twitter feed. Meanwhile, it seems like the majority of the users who have been affected are primarily android or windows users as the iOS variant of the app or website is working.

Twitter has made headlines several times in the last few weeks, as the world’s richest man, Elon Musk completed his acquisition of the social media giant. Following his takeover, several top executives of the company, including CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and head of legal, policy and trust, Vijaya Gadde, were sacked from their respective positions.

Elon Musk has also assembled all of the positions and has become the temporary CEO of the company. Meanwhile, reports have suggested that he will be making severe changes in the company’s worldwide workforce by firing a huge percentage of employees. As per the latest information, the layoff of employees will begin on Friday, November 4.

The layoffs were notified to the Twitter staff with an internal email on Thursday, Reuters reported. As per Reuters, the internal email notified the employees that all credentials will be suspended and the company’s offices will be closed temporarily “to help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data.”
