Soon after it was announced that theatres  will re-open in Maharashtra, makers of five of Akshay Kumar’s films announced their date for a theatrical release. The line up included ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘RakshaBandhan’ and ‘Ram Setu’ . However Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re’ was not in the list.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor says that the team is considering a direct-to-OTT release.

“To be honest, I haven’t yet included A’trangi Re’ in the list because we are still mulling over whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. And OTT may simply be the medium of choice for Atrangi Re, as it looks right now,” said Akshay.

Aanand L Rai’s directorial project also stars actors Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush.

“Atrangi Re has a fantastic, never-heard-before subject and story line. For me and Anand Rai, it is critical that the most suited platform is chosen for the film,” said Akshay.

Many production houses including Yash Raj Films on Sunday announced the releases date of four much-anticipated films. This comes after Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, said that “theatres and auditoriums in Maharashtra will open after 22nd October 2021 while observing all COVID safety protocols.”

Prithviraj starring superstar Akshay Kumar in and as King Prithviraj Chauhan  will release worldwide on January 21, 2022. The movie also marks the debut of Miss World Manushi Chhillar, who will be seen Sanyogita. Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood also play pivotal roles in the movie.
