Andor has really picked up pace after the first three episodes. While we met a number of important characters associated with the Rebel Alliance in the fourth episode, the fifth instalment brings us closer to the heist that Cassian has been hired for. While the heist has high chances of failing because of the distrust other members of Vel’s group have for Andor, an ISB agent is quite close to figuring out that an underground movement is slowly growing to challenge the Galactic Empire.

Unlike the other Star Wars movies and TV shows, Andor is more of a character study, and is not that heavy on Easter eggs. However, if we do look closely, we shall be able to find numerous references to the larger Star Wars universe and also a recurring Indiana Jones motif.

Skeen’s Tattoos

One of the members of Vel’s rebel group, Skeen, has a couple of tattoos that tell some tales about his past. One of them is a reference to a gang called Krayt Head. In the first episode of The Mandalorian’s second season, we had seen Din Djarin fight a krayt.

Blue milk

The Star Wars universe has a number of things that are similar yet different to the real world. They drink caf (coffee), have sheep-like animals called banthas, and drink a type of blue-coloured milk. This milk was featured in the very first Star Wars film and Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill himself had remarked that it did not taste that great.

Leida Mothma

In this episode, we finally get to meet Leida Mothma, the daughter of Mon Mothma, the would-be leader of the Rebel Alliance. Although Leida did appear in the Star Wars legends (also known as the Expanded Universe), this is the first time she is making an entry as a character that has the potential to disrupt would-be rebel leader Mon Mothma’s plans.

Indiana Jones

Just like the previous episode, Andor’s episode 5 also drops an Indiana Jones reference. In Luthen Rael’s shop, we can clearly see a couple of Sankara stones that had first appeared in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.
