On the first death anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2021, the poster of ‘SUICIDE?  हकीकत या षड्यंत्र’ (Haqiqat ya Kshadyantra)- a series that is purportedly inspired by the actor’s life, has been released. Arya Putra, who is allegedly playing the late actor, says he is ready to be “controversially” famous.

“Controversially I will be famous and I am being honest with you. I am new in the industry so I don’t know how to give a politically correct answer and the only thing I would say is that I will be famous,” he told Opoyi.

Though the makers have denied that the series is based on the late actor’s life, the poster launch of the show on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death anniversary and the release date that is scheduled for January, the birth month of the ‘Kai Po Che’ actor, tells a different story.

Arya, who is a fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, says that like the prime minister he, too, is not afraid of criticism.

“Modi ji ke bhakt hai, hum darte nahi hai  (I am a Modi fan and that’s why I am not scared of anything),” he said.

Soon after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020, many filmmakers announced films on his life. However, Rajput’s father filed a plea in the Delhi High Court objecting to the release of any such film, show, or books.

He argued that none of the projects have taken the family’s permission and was “a wilful breach of the fundamental right to privacy which cannot be taken away without the prior permission of his legal heir”.

This, possibly, is the reason why some of the filmmakers are cautious.

Arya says that this is the story of any struggling actor and not just Sushant Singh Rajput.

“It’s a story of a struggling actor so somewhere it will connect with every actor. Some scenes will even connect with Shah Rukh Khan, some with Anil Kapoor, and since Sushant Singh Rajput was a star so it will connect with him too,” he said.

For Arya, it was a simple choice because the story is challenging and he likes it.

“I like the story and the option of doing so many things in one show for example emotions, styles, etc so I took it as a challenge, and as you know this is my first web series and my second project as an actor,” he said.

On the sensitivity of the topic, Arya says like Sushant’s family and fans, even the makers are sensitive people.

“We are also sensible so we are not portraying this as a story to make fun of him,” he said and added that, “Filmmaking allows certain liberties and we are forgetting that movie-makers somehow show what the world wants to see.”
