Extraction 2 just revealed a behind-the-scenes look during the Netflix fan event Tudum, explaining how the film’s action sequences were difficult to shoot.

Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave return for Extraction 2 – where the on-camera stunt-work is just as mind-blowing as the behind-the-scenes effort it takes to shoot it”, Netflix captioned the video.

“There’s a moment when you say to yourself, it can’t be done”, the Thor actor narrates in the video, adding, “But instead of backing down, you push yourself forward, into the unknown.”

The 39-year-old Australian played Tyler Rake, a former special forces agent who works as a black ops mercenary.

“It’s pretty damn exciting”, Hemsworth continues.

The movie’s director says that with the title “2” behind the name, the Extraction sequel has to bring “at least twice the action”. The stunt crew proceeds to explain that they want to one-up the car chase sequence in the 2020 movie. The clip shows another chase scene where a car crashes into a bike on a path through a forest.

Extraction 2 sees Hemsworth’s character return for another high-stakes mission. Netflix released a clip in September 2021, mainly with footage from the first movie, announcing that Tyler Rake would be back. He was presumed dead after the events of the first movie.

In Extraction, Rake deals with deep personal guilt as he’s called to Bangladesh for a mission to save the abducted child of an Indian drug lord. However, things turn dangerous when he’s double-crossed. The first movie was based on the graphic novel Ciudad, by Andre Paks.

Joe Russo came on to write the sequel and the Russo brothers are producing the movie through their AGBO label, and the duo who helped build out the Marvel Cinematic Universe announced that they plan to build out the world of Extraction as well, with multiple movies, and there were rumours of the duo behind Netflix’s Gray Man working on an origin story for Saju, the character played by Indian actor Randeep Hooda in his international film debut.

Extraction 2 is slated to release sometime next year.
