After performances by artists like Aitch, Lewis Capaldi, and Lizzo earlier in the evening on Saturday, the American rockers grabbed the Pyramid Stage as the evening’s main attraction.

The band, which features vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, and bassist Duff McKagan, was formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and enjoyed a successful career in the 1980s and 1990s, but it had never performed at Worthy Farm before.

After a protracted breakup, the band reunited in 2016, but their eagerly anticipated concert was reportedly hampered by the audience’s apparent inability to hear 61-year-old front man Axl well.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online, one disappointed attendee revealed the singer had offered an explanation to the crowd for the reasoning behind the poor acoustics.

“We were sat up the hill for Guns N’ Roses and it was a struggle to bear Axl,” the attendee began.

“Between songs he appeared to address the sound issues and said ‘I can’t walk out further on stage cause when I do I can only hear myself and not the band’.”

The audience afterwards said that they “could hear Axl better” in response to his observation, but the singer “couldn’t be heard over the guitars” at certain points throughout the concert.

Fans of the band turned to Twitter to express their displeasure with the sound as the band performed hits including Welcome To The Jungle and Paradise City. At the same time, there were also multiple appreciation posts for Axl.

Guns N’ Roses achieved massive commercial success with their debut album “Appetite for Destruction” in 1987, which included hits like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” and “Paradise City.” Known for their energetic live performances, raw rock sound, and Rose’s distinctive vocal style, the band became a symbol of rebelliousness and excess during the era.

Guns N’ Roses went through various lineup changes and periods of hiatus, with Axl Rose remaining the sole original member. However, the band has continued to tour and release new music, with notable members such as guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan rejoining the lineup in recent years.
